Video Editing
General information
- In a normal semester, three video editing suites are available in the SMS and can be reserved in advance, for up to 4 hours at a time
- During the Spring 2021 semester, there are only 2 video edit suites - 1 Windows (in Edit Room 1) and 1 Mac (in Edit Room 3) - and are available by appointment only through the University Libraries Scheduler Tool
- The 3rd edit suite (Edit 2) has been reassigned as a video digitization room for the Spring 2021 semester and is also available by appointment only
- Each computer is set up with web access for easy downloading and uploading capabilities
- All computers in the SMS are set up for only temporary file storage, which means that when shut down or rebooted, all files that were not preset on the machine will be erased. Thus it is very important to store content on a dedicated device.
Equipment
- All editing suites are equipped with
- dual monitors
- USB condenser microphone
- mini-DV/s-VHS combo decks
- DVD players
- If you have a different tape format, you must bring in your own playback equipment (camcorder with a/v cables) that can be routed into the computer for capturing video
- A Blu-ray burner is available upon request
IMPORTANT: Please read the SMS Use Policies page before using an edit suite.
