sms_gmotephotoWelcome to the Student Multimedia Studio. Please contact me or stop by when you're in the library for a personal tour. You'll be amazed at what you can do here. I'm always happy to help students with special multimedia presentation needs. If we don't have it, or don't know how to do it, I'll try to get it or find out how it's done. I look forward to seeing you in the SMS.

Gary Mote, Manager

The SMS is located..

on the 1st floor of the Library in the Information Commons. The large glass enclosed area is hard to miss as it provides a barrier between the usually noisy multimedia production activities and the quiet study and research areas surrounding it.

Help and Tutorial Desk:

Just inside the front entrance you'll find the help desk and a multimedia consultant ready to answer your questions.

Multimedia Authoring/Scanning Stations:

Workstations in the general multimedia/scanning production areas are arranged in large "Quad" units allowing lots of space to lay out your materials or work with a team. All of these workstations have scanners, CD/DVD burners, Zip Drives, floppy disk drives, and usb/firewire ports to connect your personal camera equipment or data storage drives.

They come loaded with a wide range of software for Image Editing, Multimedia Presentation Authoring, Web Development and Digital Video/Audio Production.

Video and Audio Production Rooms:

Three Video Editing Rooms are available by reservation for capturing and editing digital video for output back to tape, to use in multimedia presentations like powerpoint or to stream as video/audio on a webpage. The video production workstations have Adobe Premiere Pro and Acid Pro Audio. The 3rd Video Station also has 3DS Max Animation Software. A new audio recording booth and editing room can be use to record narration directly to a powerpoint presentation or saved and mixed with multiple music or sound effects tracks then added to a video presentation.

Mini-DV Camcorders and Digital Still Cameras:

Camcorders and Cameras can be reserved by calling the AVS Classroom Service Dept. at 330-672-3456. All equipment is checked in and out at the 3rd floor AVS Service Counter.
