What is Curbside Pickup?

Adhering to the Flashes Safe Seven principles, Curbside Pickup is University Libraries' new, contactless service that allows you to check out materials from our collection while our buildings remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

How does it work?
  • Simply browse our KentLINK catalog and request the item(s) that interest you.
  • Our staff will retrieve the item(s) then notify you via email when they are ready for pick up.
  • Instructions for pick up will be included in the email notification and vary slightly by campus.
  • After notification, you will schedule a convenient time to pick up your items.
  • Upon arrival at the selected location, staff will bring the materials out to your car or leave them in a designated pickup location (Stark and CPM) for a contactless transaction.
  • Be advised, there is only one pickup location per campus and hours vary by location. Please see pickup instructions for campus specific details.
What items can I request?

At this time, you can only request items in Kent State University Libraries’ regular circulating collection. This includes many books and DVDs from our Kent campus, branch, and regional campus libraries.

Please note the following limitations:

  • Requests for microforms (film and fiche) cannot be fulfilled at this time.
  • Reserve items and equipment are unavailable on some campuses.
  • Due to construction on the main library’s 2nd floor, Wick Poetry books are currently unavailable.
  • The Tuscarawas campus library will remain closed at this time therefore items from that library are unavailable.
  • Items at off-site storage and unavailable for requesting and pickup at this time.
  • OhioLINK and SearchOhio materials are unavailable for requesting and pickup at this time.
How long will it take to get my items?

Due to the logistics of this new service, some requests may take longer than others. We have a limited number of operating hours and staff in the building. In addition, requests for items at campuses other than your own will take time to transport from location to location as will items from branch locations (Architecture, Fashion, Map, and Performing Arts libraries). We ask for your patience as we scale up the service based on demand. We aim to process requests as fast as possible.
