Library Services for Faculty Teaching Distance Learning and Online Courses

Faculty teaching web-based, LearnLinc, and VTEL classes have many options to enrich their courses and enhance their students' learning. Outlined below are some of the services available from University Libraries. Links to services, locations, and Subject Librarians can be made from your course web site.

Electronic Course Reserves - Learn more about placing materials on reserve for your students electronically. University Libraries can scan paper copies of articles, process copyright permissions, and assist you in linking electronic reserves materials to Vista.

Multimedia Resources - Faculty may use the online multimedia resources licensed by the Libraries and OhioLINK, to supplement their courses. They are listed by format (audio, video, image) and subject area (Art & Architecture, Current Events, History, Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences)

Reference Services - Students and faculty can obtain research help from reference librarians in a variety of ways: phone, email, online chat, and in person.

Remote Access - Essential instructions for accessing licensed databases and electronic journals from off-campus.

Specialized reference and instructional services are available at all Kent State campus library locations, including Kent Campus Branch Libraries and Regional Campuses.

Book Delivery Services - We offer free book delivery service for distance learning students who live 30 or more miles away from a Kent State Univeristy library and do not attend class on campus.

Please contact Cindy Kristof, Head, Access Services, with any questions you may have about these services, or if you would like to inquire about services not listed above. Phone 330-672-1641 or fax 330-672-2265.
