Title: Social Media Assistant

Pay Rate: Entry

General Description: To assist University Libraries’ Communications Office with the management of the department’s social media platforms for the purpose of promoting events, programs, facilities and resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, cultivate and edit social media content to promote UL’s services, events, activities, personnel and associated groups; work with the Communications Team and other UL department heads to schedule social media campaigns; monitor UL accounts; create live feeds and content from events.

  2. Responsibilities include attending and covering some of UL’s events and activities (few may be outside of business hours).

Required Qualifications:

  1. Basic familiarity and strong desire to further knowledge in:
    • Adobe Creative Cloud software (Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat) 
    • Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, TikTok)
    • Scheduling software (Hootsuite, Postfity)
    • Cell phone photography/videography/audio
  2. Reliable work ethic
  3. Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  4. Ability to edit written information for promotional purposes
  5. Demonstrates ability to follow directions and retain information
  6. Displays a professional attitude, friendliness and service-oriented demeanor at all times
  7. Exhibits enthusiasm for seeking out success stories and achievements
  8. Capable of assuming responsibility and works well without supervision
  9. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. High level of written, verbal and interpersonal communication
    Academic pursuits in journalism, communications, visual communications, marketing or related field
