For Students

Physical Reserves in the library: 

The library services desk can help you find print reserves. You can start by searching for your course materials in our catalog by clicking here.

Please be aware that the library may not have textbooks assigned for your course, but we do have a lot of textbooks--either in print or electronic format--for Kent Core courses. 

Electronic Reserves

Please check the navigation in your course's Canvas page to see if your instructor added a Course Reading List or Course Reserves for your section. You can also login using the Ares weblink to see if there are any classes you are taking that have electronic reserves available via Ares. We are moving from Ares to a new Course Reading List tool but your course materials may still be on the Ares platform.  

For Instructors

Physical Reserves in the library: 

As an instructor you can request physical materials for your course by adding them to your Course Reading List. If you need assistance, you can submit a ticket here. If approved items will be available at the library services desk for checkout. This means that any physical reserve items (including kits, books, skeletons, etc.) can be connected to courses for student use. If you are teaching a Kent Core course, please check to see if University Libraries has the textbook for your course when you are setting up your Course Reading List, and add it to the Course Reading List if we do.

Electronic Reserves

We purchase ebooks for course materials wherever possible. If we are unable to, we can often digitize sections of the book to add to electronic reserves (there are copyright restrictions, and each case is evaluated separately). Please know that we are receiving a lot of requests and will get to your request as soon as we can, and we appreciate your patience!
