Scope and Content
This collection consists of union and labor materials dating from 1944 to 1967. It contains materials and data from the anti-Communist movement of the middle 1940's which resulted in the formation of the IUERMW and the withdrawal of the UERMWA's charter. A second major section of this collection focuses on the accomplishments and development of the IUERMW from its inception. This also includes correspondence, relations with other unions, and strike-contract negotiations. A third major section of the collection focuses on the Packard Electric Division Plants and its loca1 union, #717. This section includes contracts, agreements, minutes of various meetings, and an extensive collection of grievances, appeals, and decisions. The remaining portions of the collection are devoted to labor- and union-affiliated topics: sample contracts with other industries, miscellaneous government information, and State of Ohio information.
Please note that Boxes 13-18 (grievance files) are RESTRICTED.
