Kent State's Office of Technology Transfer and Economic Development (now named the Office of Technology Commercialization) is the resource for Kent State to license its intellectual property and developing technologies. Beginning in 2007, the office began archiving original and photocopied certificates of patent and accompanying documentation with Kent State University Special Collections and Archives.

This collection consists of certificates of patent and associated documentation for patents granted to Kent State University by the United States of America and other countries.

This collection is arranged numerically according to the Kent State internal reference number assigned to each patent. Please note that there is some date overlapping within this numbering system, so that higher reference numbers may include some earlier dates and lower reference numbers may include some more recent dates. There is also some variability in the internal numbering system, particularly within the earlier files.

See also the Kent State University Liquid Crystal Institute records for historical records related to liquid crystals research at the university.

Please contact the Office of Technology Commercialization for information on licensing and other use of Kent State University-developed technologies and associated materials.
