This collection was compiled by the Department of Special Collections and Archives at Kent State University. It contains materials acquired by the Kent State University Libraries from a variety of faculty and staff members that reflect their reactions to the Kent State shootings.

This collection is comprised of smaller collections of Kent State University faculty and staff papers related to the Kent State shootings. Reflected in the collections are faculty and staff responses, information on how faculty and staff members completed their courses in spring 1970, and materials collected by faculty and staff members such as clippings, flyers, leaflets, and publications.

This collection has been arranged alphabetically by last name of the faculty or staff member who compiled/created the materials.

The May 4 Collection includes a large number of other Kent State University faculty and staff papers that have been processed as stand-alone collections. See the Subject Index under "Faculty and Staff Responses" for additional collections of this nature.

Some information in this collection is restricted due to the presence of information protected by privacy laws. This information has been redacted where present on document in the collection. Un-redacted originals, in all cases, have been retained by Special Collections and Archives.
