Biography of Dennis Hearn
Dennis Hearn was born in Chesterland, Ohio in 1949. Hearn was graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University in 1971 and pursued some graduate work at KSU in addition to performing in a number of Porthouse Theatre productions. Moving to New York, Hearn studied with drama instructor Uta Hagen. Hearn collaborated for a number of years with pastor Al Carmines, founder of the Rauschenbusch Memorial Church of Christ, and worked with Carmines on many musical productions including several of Carmines' annual Christmas Rappings productions. Hearn currently works as an actor and has also had several other positions and businesses including working as a producer, operating a restaurant, and working as an antique dealer, specializing in oil lamps and postcards.
Scope and Content
The Dennis Hearn papers consist of material relating to Hearn's family, his youth in Chesterland, Ohio, and his life as a working actor and businessman. Materials include family photograph albums, scrapbooks and loose photographs (late 1930s-1990s); family and church-related newspaper clippings documenting life in Chesterland, Ohio (1950s-1970s); programs, photographs and other material related to Hearn's theatrical career (1960s-1990s) and subject files regarding Hearn's business ventures, friends, and colleagues.
