Library Notices / E-Mail NotificationKent State University Libraries and Media Services sends library notices to students, faculty, and staff via e-mail to their "@kent.edu" e-mail address. Your "@kent.edu" e-mail address is automatically inserted into your library patron record. If you are a Kent State University student, faculty, or staff member, you do not need to apply for e-mail notification. Library patrons who have borrowing privileges but do not have "@kent.edu" e-mail accounts, such as Community Borrowers, may apply for e-mail notification below. Submissions of non-"@kent.edu" e-mail addresses by Kent State University students, faculty, or staff members will not be accepted. E-mail notices for these groups will be sent to "@kent.edu" e-mail addresses. Notices sent by e-mail:
Notices sent by Campus or U.S. Mail:
An overdue notice is sent to a patron when an item is one day overdue. If the item is not returned within seven (7) days another overdue notice is sent (eighth day overdue). Ignored overdue notices can lead to library fines and the suspension of library privileges. Notices sent via e-mail are provided as a courtesy. All patrons accept responsibility for circulation policies upon checkout of materials. (See Loan Periods, Renewals, and Overdue Fines.) Patrons are also responsible for checking and maintaining the e-mail account to which notices are sent. Failure to read or receive an e-mail notice does not relieve the patron of responsibility for overdue items or resulting fines. Please check your "@kent.edu" e-mail account regularly or forward your "@kent.edu" e-mail to the e-mail address you most often use. Instructions for forwarding your "@kent.edu" e-mail Cancelling E-Mail NotificationIf you need to cancel your e-mail notification, or have problems with your application, and are not a Kent State University student, faculty or staff, please e-mail the Circulation Department. Please include your name, telephone and e-mail address in your message. E-Mail Notification Application FormI understand that the Kent State University Libraries will use an electronic mail notification system to inform me about the status of my Library account including overdue books with associated fines, recalled books, arrival of books requested by me, and other circulation notices*. E-mail notification will be used throughout the year, including breaks, holidays and summer term. I am responsible for checking my own e-mail messages in a timely fashion and expect no other notification from the Libraries. If I forward my kent.edu e-mail to an off-campus e-mail address and if that e-mail address changes, I am responsible for updating my e-mail forwarding from my kent.edu account. IMPORTANT: After submitting this form, you will receive a verification e-mail at the e-mail address that you indicated. (This may take 2-4 days, usually fewer, depending on when you submit the form.) You must reply to this e-mail from the e-mail address to which it was sent before e-mail notification will be activated for your library account. If you do not receive a verification e-mail to the e-mail address you indicated after 2-4 days, visit this page and submit the form again, being sure to enter all required information correctly. |
