Library Notices / E-Mail Notification

Kent State University University Libraries sends library notices to students, faculty, and staff via e-mail to their "@kent.edu" e-mail address.

Library patrons who have borrowing privileges but do not have "@kent.edu" e-mail accounts, such as Community Borrowers, may receive e-mail notification by supplying an email address when they apply for borrowing privileges, or by contacting the Kent Campus Main Library Circulation Desk.

Notices sent by e-mail:

  • Materials Approaching Due Dates
  • Overdue Notices
  • Pickup Notices for KentLINK, OhioLINK, and Interlibrary Loan books
  • Statement of Charges
  • Hold Cancellation Notices
  • Recall Notices

Notices sent by Campus or U.S. Mail:

  • Bills for Lost Materials

An overdue notice is sent to a patron when an item is one day overdue. If the item is not returned within seven (7) days another overdue notice is sent (eighth day overdue). Ignored overdue notices can lead to library fines and the suspension of library privileges.

Notices sent via e-mail are provided as a courtesy. Patrons are responsible for checking and maintaining the e-mail account to which notices are sent.

  • All patrons accept responsibility for circulation policies upon checkout of materials. (See Loan Periods, Renewals, and Overdue Fines.)
  • Failure to read or receive an e-mail notice does not relieve the patron of responsibility for overdue items or resulting fines.

Please check your "@kent.edu" e-mail account regularly or forward your "@kent.edu" e-mail to the e-mail address you most often use. Instructions for forwarding your "@kent.edu" e-mail This is a link to another web site can be found at the Information Services Helpdesk This is a link to another web site.
