Historical Note: The Warren-Trumbull Urban League can trace its history back at least as far as 1930, when it became affiliated with the National Urban League, originated in 1930, as an organization created in 1910. Though the Warren-Trumbull chapter originated in 1930, most of its records date from the late 1960's through 1975. The oldest item in the collection dates back to 1947, but there are some secondary materials within the collection that can aid the researcher in constructing the league's earlier history.

Scope and Content: This collection includes correspondence, Board records, subject files, publications, clippings, event files, and other records.

Arrangement: Materials have been arranged first topically and then chronologically, where such an order is feasible, within each of the subject areas.

Acquisition Note: These records were received on October 29 and November 5, 1975 through the efforts of two officers of the Warren-Trumbull Urban League, L. Steven Robinson (President of the Board of Directors) and Elvin Ryan (Executive Director).

Restrictions on Access: Personnel files dated through 1975 are restricted until 2025. Researchers may, however, obtain access to these records before that time if they secure written permission from either the President of the Board of Directors or the Executive Director of the Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League (the current name of this organization).
