University Libraries is proud to name the awardees of our first set of Affordable Learning Materials (ALM) and Open Educational Resources (OER) Incentive Grants. These grants, funded by the Provost’s Office, are to provide incentive to faculty to adopt/adapt, or write their own OER. OER are openly-licensed textbooks and accompanying materials that are free of charge to students. Each awardee has been paired with an assigned Subject Librarian to assist with research and other informational needs.
Three faculty were awarded $1,000 adopt/adapt grants in which they replaced assigned commercial textbook(s) with one or more OER for the Fall 2023 semester:
These faculty include:
- Ikram Toumi, School of Communication Studies
- Molly Sergi, Arts and Sciences, History
- Qunxing Ding, Arts and Sciences, Biological Sciences
Six teams of faculty were awarded $5,000 to write their own OER, assign it a Creative Commons License for potential reuse by other faculty worldwide, and implement for their own courses by Fall 2025. These faculty include:
- Kimberly Cleveland and Pamela Rafferty-Semon, College of Nursing
- Kurtis Eisermann and Don Gerbig, Veterinary Technology, Tuscarawas Campus
- Landon Hancock and Ashley E. Nickels, School of Peace and Conflict Studies
- Yuko Kurahashi, School of Theatre and Dance
- Eve McPherson, School of Music
