DeWeese, Arville in Front of Health Center |
Description |
"Dr. Arville O. DeWeese served at Kent State for 41 years (1921-1965). He was appointed as the head of the Departments of Health Service and Health and Physical Education and remained director of both departments for 22 years. DeWeese helped organized the American School Health Association and served as president and national officer of that organization for many years. When Pres. John Edward McGilvrey created the new Department of Physical and Health Education that also had oversight for athletic coaching, he recruited DeWeese to serve as its first director. The university honored his service to KSU with a new health center dedicated in his name in 1969." Photograph appears on page 21 of Kent State University Athletics. |
