Merging Map and Census Data

STEP #1: From this GIS Workstation desktop, double click the ArcView GIS 3.3 icon to open up the ArcView program. The Welcome to ArcView 3.3 window box will open up in the top left corner of the screen. It opens up to: Create a new project with a new view, click on the OK button.

STEP #2: The dialog box asks if you would like to Add Data and you click on Yes.

STEP #3: The Add Theme box will now appear. Double click on the D drive folder icon to open the folder, and then select ‘census_mapping’ folder.

STEP #4: Double click on the census_mapping folder to open, and then select the ‘portage_tract_map’ folder.

STEP #5: Double click again to reveal the trt0039133 file.

STEP #6: Double click on the trt folder, and the SHP file will appear in the left-hand box. Click once on the .shp file and click OK.
