Mapping Census Data

This tutorial offers step-by-step instructions for downloading Census demographics and map files and merging them in ArcView, a geographical information system to create a map of selected Census data. Follow the steps below:

  • Downloading the Map: The first phase of the tutorial is to utilize the available mapping data.
  • Downloading Census Data: The second step is to gather and download the corresponding census data from a responsible resource to merge with the mapping layers of data.
  • Converting Downloaded Data: The third element of this application is to reformat the Census data file into a format that you can use in ArcView.
  • Merging Files in ArcView: The fourth and final component is to map the Census demographics by merging them with the map file in ArcView.
