Services and Facilties
The Map Library staff is available to help patrons locate and use maps, atlases, microfiche, microfilm and CD-ROMs in the collection. The staff can also assist in obtaining materials online.
GIS Consultation: The Map Librarian is available for GIS consultation locating base maps, remote sensing, aerial imagery, and GIS data for various projects. Also available are customized base maps for use in publications. Please contact us for more information.
Research Consultation: The Map Librarian is available for individual research consultation to locate cartographic and other research materials from the library's licensed content and other government sources for students and faculty. Please contact us for an appointment.
Worktables: The Map Library has large worktables that are available for viewing maps and atlases. There is a light table that can be used for drafting or tracing maps.
GIS Workstation: The Map Library also offers a GIS workstation, on which ArcView, ArcGIS and ArcMap software are available as well as Web access for downloading GIS maps and data. The GIS workstation also offers a CD-RW drive to allow users to save their work or any downloaded resources.
Printer: The Map Library has a color/ black and white printer that can be used to print maps and documents. Print outs can be paid for with a Flashcard. Cost is 14 cents per page.
Photocopier: Black and white copies of materials can be made with the self-service photocopy machine in the Map Library. Copies can be paid for with a Flashcard or with change.
Scanner: An 8 1/2" x 11" color scanner is available with Photoshop and other image manipulation software for scanning maps and documents. It also contains a CD/ DVD-RW drive for saving large image files.
