We are pleased to offer workshops covering a variety of research-related topics. Descriptions of our latest workshops are listed below.

Workshop Descriptions:

  • Undergraduate Research Symposium:
    This workshop will help students develop their abstracts and poster ideas for the Undergraduate Symposium on Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities
  • APA Citation Style
    This workshop will introduce participants to the general rules for citing materials and writing papers using APA style. Hands-on activities will provide practice in writing citations and formatting. Computers are provided, however feel free to bring your laptop.
  • MLA Citation Style
    This workshop will introduce participants to the general rules for citing materials and writing papers using MLA style. Hands-on activities will provide practice in writing citations and formatting. Computers are provided, however feel free to bring your laptop. 
  • RefWorks Basic
    When you work on papers, theses, dissertations, articles, or grants, you search for information in articles, books, or the internet. RefWorks is a tool for managing that research. RefWorks is free for Kent State University students, faculty, and staff. This hands-on session will show you how to get started.
  • RefWorks Advanced
    RefWorks helps you manage the research you do for papers, theses, dissertations, articles, etc. This hands-on session will show you how to use RefWorks when you are writing to automatically insert citations and references according to styles such as APA and MLA. Other advanced functions for managing research will also be shown.
  • Avoiding Plagiarism
    This session will help demystify the idea of plagiarism. Participants will be introduced to the Kent State University policy on plagiarism, learn writing strategies to help them avoid plagiarizing, and resources for help.
  • Avoiding Plagiarism - International Edition
    This session is designed specifically for international students. In the session, students will learn what plagiarism is and what is expected of them while writing for classes at Kent State University. Strategies for learning how to write will also be covered.
