Reference and Instruction

The Map Library offers reference services and instruction to the campus community and reference and collection services to the community. Visitors who wish to schedule a  tour or instruction session should contact the Map Librarian, mhawki11 [at] kent.edu (Michael Hawkins), for more information.

Research Consultation

The Map Librarian is available for individual research consultation to locate cartographic and earth science research materials from the library's licensed content and other government sources. These consultations are open to all.

GIS Consultation

The Map Librarian is available for GIS consultation locating base maps, remote sensing, aerial imagery, and GIS data for various projects.  Also available are customized  base maps for use in publications. Public workstations and datasets as well as some purchased datasets are available to all, ArcGIS software and licensed data is available to the university community.

Reserve Services and Teaching Sets

Faculty and Teaching Assistants can put items on reserve for students from both the Map Library as well as University Library collections. Teaching Sets, copies of the same map, can be also be checked out for classroom use.
