Scope and Content

The American History Research Center received this collection on December 16, 1975, through the efforts of Mr. Joseph F. Fiorino and Mr, James H. Culver, Sr.

Mr. Fiorino became the President of the Federation in 1975 and Mr. Culver, its Recording Secretary, has been associated with this organization and its predecessor, the Trumbull County Industrial Union Council, since 1938.

The sources in this collection have been arranged first topically and then chronologically within each of the subject areas. For the most part, the materials consist of financial records of the Trumbull County Central Labor Union, as well as the minutes of the Trumbull County Industrial Union Council / Trumbull County C. I. O. Council and the Trumbull County Central Labor Union, as well as the minutes of the Trumbull County Industrial Union Council / Trumbull County C. I. O. Council. These records not only help to document efforts at improving the well being of workers in the Warren area, but also labor's philanthropic endeavors in such areas as donations to the United Negro College Fund and Warren Y.M.C.A. during the 1940s.

Researchers should note that the present collection contains only one copy of the Signal (vol. 1, no. 2, Sept., 1975), the Federation's newsletter. As Future editions are received, they will be added to the appropriate folder.
