Dr. Matthew Crawford is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at Kent State University. He received his PhD in History and Science Studies from the University of California, San Diego. He specializes in the history of the sciences in the early modern period (1500-1800) and is currently writing a book on the role of the sciences in the Spanish Empire during the eighteenth century.
