Peg Watkins, Papers, 1977-78

May 4 Collection -- Box 121

Finding Aid

Prepared by Cara Gilgenbach, April 9, 1997
1 document case, .33 cubic foot, 12th floor

Scope and Content

This collection primarily deals with Tent City and the gym annex demonstrations of 1977-78 at Kent State University. It contains a variety of items including newspaper clippings, letters to the editor (some of which were written by Peg Watkins), flyers, and newsletters. The collection helps to provide information on the various groups active on campus during the late 1970's that were concerned with issues surrounding the events of May 4, 1970. It also helps to highlight the complexity of the debates over how May 4, 1970 should be characterized and commemorated by the University, and by the nation as a whole.

Peg Watkins, a KSU student at the time of the gym annex demonstrations, donated this collection on April 3, 1997.
