Congressional Research Service Reports (2004 - Current)
The Congressional Research Service (CRS) provides members of Congress, committees, and congressional staff with nonpartisan and objective research and analysis on all public policy issues. This tool provides keyword access and full-text to CRS reports produced since 2004.

CQ Researcher (1923 - Current)
Offers a balanced overview of contemporary political and social issues. Each report includes background information, both sides of the debate surrounding the issue, and suggested resources to consult for further information.

Business Source Complete
Has full text for more than 10,300 serials. Contains scholarly publications covering all disciplines of business including marketing, management, economics, finance, accounting, and MIS. Additional materials include country economic reports, case studies company profiles, SWOT analyses and industry reports. Coverage varies by title, but in general dates back to the mid 1990s. Updated daily.

EconLit (1969 - Current)
Covers the international literature on economics. Provides bibliographic citations, with selected abstracts of journal articles, books, dissertations, working papers, collected works, conferences, book reviews, and more. Topics include economic development, forecasting, and history; fiscal and monetary theory; business and public finance; international, healthcare, regional and urban economics, and more. Updated monthly.

Education Research Complete
Education Research Complete is a great tool for locating professional and scholarly research on a variety of educational topics. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 1,500 journals, as well as full text for more than 750 journals. This database uses an EBSCO interface.

Environment Complete
Environment Complete is the electronic version of Environment Index, and covers applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, natural resources, marine & freshwater science, geography, pollution & waste management, environmental technology, environmental law, public policy, social impacts, urban planning, and more. It contains citations for articles from domestic and international journals, monographs and conference papers of the North American Association of Environmental Education.

International Political Science Abstracts (1975 - Current)
The International Political Science Abstracts has provided non-evaluative abstracts of articles in the field of political science since 1951. The articles are published in journals and yearbooks all over the world, including the major political science journals.

PAIS (1972 - Current)
Contains citations and abstracts to articles, with emphasis on public policy and modern political, social, and economic issues. Updated monthly.

Historical Statistics of the United States Millennial Edition Online
Historical Statistics of the United States (HSUS) is the standard source for the quantitative facts of American history. HSUS provides data on social, behavioral, humanistic, and natural sciences including history, economics, government, finance, sociology, demography, education, law, natural resources, climate, religion, international migration, and trade - quantitative facts of American History. The fully searchable and downloadable electronic edition permits users to graph individual tables and create customized tables and spreadsheets reflecting their own particular areas of interest.

Polling the Nations
Contains the full text of 400,000 questions and responses from 14,000 surveys/public opinion polls conducted from 1986-present in the U.S. and 80 other countries.

Vital Statistics on American Politics Online
Vital Statistics on American Politics is a rich and authoritative resource of data offering more than 230 tables and charts covering the full spectrum of American politics dating back to 1788, including: congressional and gubernatorial elections; party competition at the national, regional, and state levels; public approval of the president, Congress, and the two major political parties; the federal budget and the national debt; and election information.

Freely Accessible Data and Statistical Resources

This is an excellent gateway to economic and population census data. Data are available for download, in customizable tables or in thematic mapped. The site provides access data from the Decennial Censuses, the Economic Censuses, and the American Community Survey.

More than 70 agencies in the United States Federal Government produce statistics of interest to the public. The Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy maintains this site to provide easy access to the full range of statistics and information produced by these agencies for public use.

Collects, collates, analyzes, and reports complete statistics concerning the state of American education. Also reviews and reports on trends in international education.

Includes data on vital events, health status, lifestyle, exposure to unhealthy events, the onset and diagnosis of illness and disability, and the use of health care.

Locating Book and Government Documents

KentLINK is the library catalog for all 8 campuses of the University. It identifies what books, journals, government publications, and media (computer files, films, CDs, etc.) are owned and indicates their availability.

The OhioLINK Library Catalog is the database of all books and other materials owned by the 85 public and private colleges and universities that are OhioLINK member libraries. For any item not available at KSU, it is possible to request the item online and have it sent to any KSU library or another OhioLINK institution for pick up.

Contains records to over 100 million items in most (if not all) subject areas. Materials may include books, computer data files and programs, films, journal and magazine titles, newspapers, manuscripts, musical scores, and more. Not included are individual articles, stories, or book chapters. Updated daily.

America's Newspapers
Full text of 5 Ohio newspapers: The Blade (Toledo), 1996 - present; Cincinnati Post, 1990- 2007; Columbus Dispatch, 1985 - present; Dayton Daily News, 1990 - present; Plain Dealer (Cleveland), 1991 - present. Also includes 27 popular and news magazines.

Factiva is a good source for international business and company news. It includes full text news reports from more than 10,000 sources from 159 countries and available in 22 languages.

LexisNexis Academic
Contains the full-text of newspapers for the past 20 years, federal and state case law and legislative materials, law reviews, company news and financial information, medical and health information, general information sources and much more. Updates and coverage vary by section.

Newspaper Source
Provides selected full text for over 180 regional U.S. newspapers, international newspapers, newswires, newspaper columns and other sources as well as indexing and abstracts for national newspapers. In addition, full text television & radio news transcripts are provided from CBS News, FOX News, NPR, etc. This database is updated daily.

Television News Archive (1968 - Current)
Contains listings, summaries, and descriptions of news broadcasts found in the Vanderbilt University television news archive. Segments of the evening news as well as special broadcasts covering political conventions, presidential campaigns, international events, and more are included. Names of reporters, anchors, persons involved in an event, and a summary may be searched. Major networks covered are ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN, as well as ABC's Nightline since 1989.

Compiled and maintained by a librarian at California State University, Chico, this site provides an annotated listing of web sites for "cause lobbyists" (the site defines a "cause lobbyist" as an advocate for or against a particular cause like environmentalism or feminism). The site is arranged topically.

This specific section of the Project Vote Smart site features an annotated list of Think Tanks and other policy-influencing organizations. The Project Vote Smart site also offers a comprehensive database about thousands of candidates and elected officials for President, Congress, Governors and State Legislators.
