Basic RefWorks - Research Databases
Many databases provide for "directly" transferring information to RefWorks. For example you can directly transfer ("export") records from PubMed, or PsycINFO, or from an EBSCO databases such as SocINDEX, the MLA International Bibliography, CINAHL, Education Research Complete, or Academic Search Complete.
To put items into RefWorks, the general steps are these:
1. As you look at the references in your search results, you click on "add to folder", or click on boxes to "store", or "mark" the items you want to put into RefWorks.
2. When ready to move items to RefWorks, you click on "View Stored Records" or on "Folder View", or on "Marked Records", etc.
3. You click on a "Direct Export" option, or an picture/icon for exporting.
4. You choose "Direct Export to RefWorks".

While the vendor for Kent State's access to some databases varies from those at Ohio State University (e.g. Historical Abstracts is an EBSCO database at Kent), detailed instructions for many databases are provided at their site. Some databases do not have the direct export option to RefWorks, and so alternate approaches are used.
