Basic RefWorks - Working with multiple windows.
You are looking at these directions on your screen in one open "window". You may wish to have 2 or 3 "windows" open at the same time to facilitate your work. For example, you may use an extra "window" to connect to RefWorks while you read these directions. Or, if you login into RefWorks, and then open a second window to do research database searches, this can speed up importing selected items into RefWorks.
1. On Microsoft Windows computers (e.g., in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari) hold down the control key and typing the letter "n". On Macs, hold the key next to the space bar and type "n". You should see a new "window" open.
2. You can toggle between the windows for different tasks.
TIP: You will also open Microsoft Word in a separate window on your computer while using RefWorks to facilitate insertion of citations and automatically formatting papers.
