Click Analyze -- Descriptive Statistics -- Descriptives

Select your variable(s) of interest. Click on the variable(s) or hold down shift and the down arrow to select more than one variable. Click the purple arrow to move the variable(s) into the Variable(s) box.

Choose the descriptive statistics needed. Click Continue.

DESCRIPTIVES VARIABLES=Age

/STATISTICS=MEAN STDDEV MIN MAX.

Standard Z scores

Standardized (Z) Scores can be calculated in SPSS through the Descriptives Menu.

Choose the variable of interest. Click the box next to "Save standardized values as variables". Click OK

Note the addition of a variable in data view with scores for age.
