KSU Library TourStacksFloors 4 through 12 hold the bulk of the Main Library's book collection and are often referred to as "the stacks" or "the tower." Before heading up into the stacks, consult the library's online catalog, KentLINK Floors 4 and 6 are designated group study floors. Feel free to talk and work in groups on these floors. Floor 5 is a designated quiet study floor. Comfortable seating and quiet await students on the 5th floor. Floors 4 through 9 contain most of the book collection and are arranged by the Library of Congress call number system. This is an alphanumeric system using letters and numbers. You can think of a call number as the address of a book. The letters of the call numbers correspond to floors here in the Main Library. Consult the Main Library building guide to determine which floor your book will be on. Locating a book in the stacks can be confusing. Ask at the reference desk if you require assistance determing which floor your book is on or physically locating the book.
