Cooperative Library Project for Nursing

An 8-Campus Prototype in Cooperative Collection Development

For the first time, libraries on all 8 campuses are working on cooperative collection development in a single subject area. We picked nursing because it has a strong presence on so many campuses and it has been identified as a strategically important program for the university.

1. eJournals:

We have subscribed to the LWW Complete Nursing Collection. It includes backfiles of 75 nursing journal titles.  The collection costs $ 11,970.00 per year and is funded by the Kent Campus library.

2. Paper books:

Together, the 8 campus libraries are planning to spend $ 21,000 / year on paper nursing books. Collectively, this is at least $5,000 more than we normally spend. We will buy these books on a single approval profile and house them throughout the 8-campus library system.

3. eBooks:

Together, the 8 campus libraries are spending $ 3,600 / year on  a collection of  1,800  electronic nursing books from ebrary.
