The International Phonetic Alphabet
An IPA chart that gives information regarding the specific sounds of each character.

The International Phonetic Alphabet Project
An on-line project devoted to greater understanding of phonetic usage. The site contains character charts along with audio samples of specific sounds and these sounds as found in complete words. This site also contains detailed IPA for German, French, and Spanish.

International Phonetic Association (IPA)
The official site of the International Phonetic Association, the creators of the IPA. The site offers an in-depth review of IPA, with detailed explanations following every character. View IPA charts, download IPA fonts, and listen to audio examples.

The Lied and Art Song Texts Page
A database over 40,000 art-song texts, many of which include literal translations in English and over twenty other languages. Indexed by composer, poet, language, composer title, first line, and songs in English or English translation (title and first line).

Naxos' Synopses of Operas
Part of Naxos' education page at their commercial site. Synopses not only include plot, but character break-down and a short history. Contains many hard-to-find operas.

Oberlin Opera Theater Department On-Line Opera Resource Guide
This resource page is for opera singers to help with role preparation and professional development.  These pages include information about: reference tools, historical research, biographies, synopses, text & translation, technical opera & drama theory, and professional development.

This website allows you to search opera performance details of several international opera companies, including upcoming schedules. You can also find information on past performances of over 53,000 operas (from August, 2006 and onward), biographies of specific singers, and websites of international opera houses.

ChoralNet - The Global Choral Community
Home of Choralist, ChoralTalk, ChoralAcademe, Web Message Boards, and many other Internet resources for the choral music world. ChoralNet is also the official Website of the International Federation for Choral Music.

Choral Public Domain Library
Begun in 1998, the Choral Public Domain Library (CPDL) is a free sheet music Web site which provides scores, primarily for choral music. It currently offers users over 5,000 scores to choose from -- most of which are in the public domain. Users can search the CPDL database using composer or title or browse by composer's name. The project lists over 200 volunteers who have contributed scores to the Web site; while new users can join CPDL and submit their scores or link their own sites and scores. CPDL also offers a newsletter which users can subscribe to and a nicely organized Related Links section.
