RefWorks: Your Account

RefWorks is available using a Web browser from any location to any valid student, faculty, or staff member at any of the eight campuses of Kent State University.

Setting up Your Account

To create your account you must be on campus or using the Kent VPN if you are at an offsite location.  (Information on using the VPN is at http://www.library.kent.edu/offcampus ). Note: OhioLINK authentication does not provide access to RefWorks from off-campus.

1. Go to http://www.refworks.com/refworks .

2. From the Login window, click the Sign up for an Individual Account link.

3. Complete the New User Information box.

4. Click Register.

5. You will receive an email confirmation which will include a Group Code.

Accessing Your Account On Campus

Simply connect to http://www.refworks.com/refworks and enter your login and password that you created when registering.

Accessing Your Account from Off Campus

To access your account from off campus, you have two choices.  Use the proxy server setup in your browser and login with your personal login and password.  If you are not set up to use proxy, you will need to login also using the Group Code which was given in the email confirmation you received when setting up your account.
