Special Events Functions

New Student Multimedia Studio Opened

  • Redirected the form and function of the old “Mac Lab” from a word processing facility to the Student Multimedia Studio for the development and creation of web sites, digital graphics, animation, non-linear and streaming video and interactive multimedia by students.
  • Collaborative projects were developed or requested which team Student Multimedia Studio student web and multimedia developers with faculty and staff.
  • Spanish I & II: Collaborative pilot project and potential NEH grant involving the coordinator of the Romance Language program, Academic Computing, New Media, Teleproductions and the Student Multimedia Studio for the purpose of providing students with language course materials and testing utilizing web and multimedia technologies. The Student Multimedia Studio was responsible for digitizing, editing, and preparing Spanish language vignettes for web delivery.
  • Provided on-going maintenance and development of the University (Fashion) Museum web site.
  • Conducted class workshops and provided on-going support for students in Journalism and Mass Communication's Radio and Television sequence, Theatre, Nursing, History, Educational Technology, and Business programs to create web sites, on-line resumes, streaming and digital non-linear video, and Power Point presentations.

Instructional and presentation technology consultations, designs, and installations

  • Moulton Hall and LearningTechnologyCenter -- The formal dedication of Moulton Hall culminated a three year process that involved AVS and Teleproductions in the consultation, design, and installation phases for the instructional technology presentation systems. Staff efforts culminated with extensive production involvement for the dedication ceremonies.
  • Moulton Hall Ameritech Classroom-- consulted with an outside vendor to design and install a VTEL teleconferencing system in the Ameritech Classroom area in Moulton Hall. The system allows video-conferencing between the classroom and any other VTEL classrooms throughout the eight campuses and with public schools and other locations around the world.
  • TrumbullCampusTechnologyBuilding Project -- Consulted with the Trumbull Campus planning team during the design phase for their new Technology Building. Responsibility included designing the instructional space and the specifications for the instructional media presentation systems.
  • Quality Classroom Needs Committee -- Provided instructional technology consultation for the implementation of the Quality Classroom Needs (classroom enhancement) Committee report that presented remedies for classroom deficiencies.
  • JMC Nonlinear Editing Systems -- Designed and installed two PC based nonlinear editing systems for the School Of Journalism and Mass Communications (JMC) for use in the Electronic Media program.
  • Digital Video System -- Purchased and installed digital video system that utilizes the University’s fiber optic backbone to transmit high quality video signals to and from any location on the Kent campus. The system can also be used to connect campus locations to satellite downlinks and uplinks.

CopyCenter Created

A new CopyCenter was opened in the Library offering a wide range of copy services, including large run productions, folding, stapling, and a variety of binding options.

Copyright Clearance Services Office Formed

In collaboration with the Library, New Media, Distributed Learning, and Human Resources the Copyright Clearance Services office was created. This office obtains copyright clearance for such special work as course packets, reserve packets, distributed learning programs, and multimedia programs.

Specialized Graphics

  • Experience Kent Graphics -- Designed and produced a logo, and numerous newspaper ads, signs, and banners for Experience Kent, a 3 day series of University sponsored events that combined Parents Day, Family Day, Employee Appreciation Day, and Communities Day, and also included the Kent Folk Festival and Aviation Day.
  • Homecoming Support Services -- Produced car signs, special events signs, and banners.
  • University Teaching Council Annual Conference Displays -- Created and produced poster displays for faculty and staff to be displayed at this University sponsored event.
  • Polio Exhibit at NEOUCOM -- Printed poster-sized prints for display and mounted others of varying smaller sizes.
  • Poster Displays -- Created, designed and produced numerous poster displays for research, conferences, and special events for the following departments:

200th University Commencement

Designed and set up a portable video system to record and display the ceremonies for Kent’s 200th Commencement. The system consisted of five cameras and multiple video switcher that provided simultaneous live feeds to two 15 X 20 foot video screens in the MACC and to overflow areas in the Kiva and Bowman Hall. Both ceremonies were also recorded for archival documentation.

Video productions

  • Russian Video Grant Project -- Provided total production support (directing, script consultation, shooting, editing, graphics, and tape duplication) for the 10 part Russian high performance business practices video tape series. Collaboration with Kent's OhioEmployeeOwnershipCenter and visitors from Russia.
  • NCAA Wrestling Rules Program -- For the tenth consecutive year Teleproductions, along with the KentStateUniversity wrestling team, produced NCAA’s wrestling rules update video.
  • Recreation And WellnessCenter Grand Opening -- Produced a promotional video.
  • Basic Spanish Language Instruction Production Support -- Provided video production work and digitizing for the creation of the web course for the Modern and Classical Languages Spanish language course.
  • Produced twenty-nine NETO PBS channels 45/49 programs, and hosted multiple membership drives.
