Special Collections and Archives - 12th floor Library; patrons reviewing collection with assistant The Department of Special Collections and Archives occupies floor 12 of the Main Library. Special Collections and Archives acquires, preserves and provides access to primary sources and rare materials that support the teaching and research programs of the University.

Primary sources are records of events that are described or recorded by someone who either participated in or witnessed the events firsthand. Examples include letters, diaries, interviews, and newspaper accounts.

Special Collections and Archives presents exhibits throughout the year and is staffed by professional librarians and archivists. Special Collections and Archives is open from 1-5 pm Monday through Friday. They have a secure entrance that requires visitors to buzz in.
