Interlibrary Loan (ILL): Frequently Asked Questions

How long do ILL loans circulate?

Loan periods are determined by the lending libraries, and they vary widely, from just a few days to a year or more. Most loan periods are about four weeks. You must request renewals either via email or by phone (330-672-2670). Renewals cannot be made automatically online, through KentLINK or ILLiad. We must make renewal requests through the lending libraries, on a case-by-case basis. Renewal requests are frequently granted, but lending libraries have the option to refuse a renewal.

Some ILL items are Library Use Only and can be checked out for daily use within the Library. If you need to use a Library Use Only ILL item for longer than one day, the Circulation Desk staff will hold the item for additional daily use checkouts by request.
