CINAHL Plus with Full-Text (1937 - Current)
CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature) is the premier index for searching the nursing literature and now covers 1937 to present. Special features include: full-text of most state nursing journals, state nurse practice acts, and patient education materials. Cited references, descriptions of research instruments, and critical paths are being added. Updated monthly.It links to over 550 full-text journals and includes Evidence-Based Care Sheets and Quick Lessons.

MEDLINE (1949 - Current)
MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) premier bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. This database contains bibliographic citations and author abstracts from 4,500 biomedical journals published in the United States and 70 foreign countries.

PubMed provides free, worldwide access to MEDLINE. It also contains links to the full-text versions of articles at participating publishers' Web sites and access to PREMEDLINE basic citation information. NOTE: accessing PubMed through this URL will provide links to online, full-text articles available through KSU and OhioLINK.

Ageline (1978 - Current)
Provides extensive coverage of age and age-related issues. Updated 3 times per year.

Alt-HealthWatch
This database focuses on the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. It covers both scholarly and popular resources, with peer-reviewed materials comprising about 25%. It is possible to limit to scholarly journals only if desired.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) partnered to create this database, which is a subset of PubMed providing research-based information on treatments and conditions.

Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials
Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials is a bibliography of controlled trials identified by contributors to the Cochrane Collaboration and others, as part of an international effort to hand search the world's journals and create an unbiased source of data for systematic reviews.

Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews
Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews contains full text articles, as well as protocols focusing on the effects of healthcare. Data is evidence-based medicine and is often combined statistically (with meta-analysis) to increase the power of the findings of numerous studies.

Cochrane Library
The Cochrane Library is comprised of several databases that identify research at varying levels of evidence. The databases are: Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR), the Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE), the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, the Cochrane Methodology Register, Health Technology Assessment Database, NHS Economic Evaluation Database.

Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (DARE)
Includes abstracts of published systematic reviews on the effects of health care from around the world, which have been critically analyzed according to a high standard of criteria. Provides access to quality reviews in subjects for which a Cochrane review may not yet exist.

Doody's Core Titles presents a comprehensive list of core titles in 121 specialties in clinical medicine, basic science, nursing, allied health, and other health-related disciplines. A completely new edition is published each year. Access is limited to the Kent campus. When you click on this link, you will be directed to login with your Flashline login and then you will get the login information for connecting to Doody's.

The most comprehensive online bibliographic database containing over 100,000 records on alcohol abuse and alcoholism. ETOH is updated monthly and contains research findings from the late 1960s to the present, as well as historical research literature. A thesaurus is available for searching alcohol and other drug terms including a subset index of language used in the ETOH database.

Health and Psychosocial Instruments (HAPI) (1985 - Current)
Provides information about articles on questionnaires, interview schedules, checklists, index measures, coding schemes and manuals, rating scales and other measurement instruments in the fields of health, psychosocial sciences, organizational behavior, and library and information science.

HSRR is a searchable database of information about research datasets, instruments/indices and software. Users may examine and compare characteristics of resources employed in health services research, behavioral and social sciences and public health.

Health Source (consumer edition)
This database covers many consumer health topics involving the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. It features searchable full-text for over 190 journals including Consumer Reports on Health and Men's Health, as well as abstracts and indexing for over 205 general health, nutrition and professional health care publications.

Health Source (nursing/academic edition)
Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition provides more than 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on nursing and allied health, plus indexing for more than 800 journals. In addition, this database includes a special resource called Clinical Pharmacology, which provides access to up-to-date, concise and clinically relevant drug monographs for all U.S. prescription drugs, hard-to-find herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and new drugs.

Human Nutrition Online (1990 - Current)
Provides access to abstracts relevant to human nutrition selected from more than 1,000 academic journals, books, reports and conferences published worldwide. Areas of human nutrition include food techniques; foods; physiology and biochemistry; nutrition and health; and clinical nutrition. Online version of Nutrition Abstracts and Reviews Series A. Online resource dedicated to learning, teaching, and practicing evidence-based medicine. Includes interactive capabilities including wizard to help formulate clinical queries and customizable appraisal worksheets. Limited to four simultaneous users.

Lexi-PALS Drug Guide
Database provides patient advisory leaflets for over 1,450 medications and natural products, plus 600 Spanish language leaflets representing the most subscribed and commonly used medications.

Natural & Alternative Treatments

PsycINFO - Current File (1967 - Current)
PsycINFO provides abstracts and citations to the scholarly literature in the behavioral sciences and mental health. The database includes material of relevance to psychologists and professionals in psychology and related fields such as psychiatry, management, business, education, social science, neuroscience, law, medicine, and social work. PsycINFO covers journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations, and technical reports. Journal coverage includes international material selected from more than 1900 periodicals written in over 24 languages. Current chapter and book coverage includes worldwide English-language material published from 1987-present. Over 60,000 references are added annually through weekly updates.

PsycINFO - Historical File (1887 - 1966)
At OhioLINK, Historic PsycINFO (1806-1966) is separate from the contemporary database. Historic records do not contain controlled index terms or certain other indexing fields, such as Age Groups or Methodology. Historic PsycINFO contains citations and abstracts from Psychological Abstracts (1927-1966), Psychological Bulletin (1921-1926), American Journal of Psychology (1887-1966), all APA journals back to their first issues, Psychological Index (1894-1935), and Classic Books in Psychology of the 20th Century and Harvard Book List, 1840-1971.

Public Health (ProQuest) (1972 - Current)
ProQuest Public Health is a starting point for public health information and research. It indexes core public health literature with centralized access to over 800 publications with over 500 in full-text.

PubMed Central (PMC) is the U.S. National Library of Medicine's free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature.

REHABDATA is produced by the National Rehabilitation Information Center and is freely available on the Web. "The main file, 1997-present, describes over 12,000 documents covering physical, mental, and psychiatric disabilities, independent living, vocational rehabilitation, special education, assistive technology, law, employment, and other issues as they relate to people with disabilities."

Has full text for more than 10,300 serials. Contains scholarly publications covering all disciplines of business including marketing, management, economics, finance, accounting, and MIS. Additional materials include country economic reports, case studies company profiles, SWOT analyses and industry reports. Coverage varies by title, but in general dates back to the mid 1990s. Updated daily.

Dissertation Abstracts (ProQuest Dissertations & Theses) (1861 - Current)
Includes citations for dissertations dating from the first U.S. dissertation issued in 1861. Contains abstracts for dissertations from 1980 to the present and for master's theses from 1988 forward. The work of authors from over 1,000 North American graduate schools and European universities are also included. Titles published since 1997 are available in PDF digital format and have 24 page previews available.

EBSCO databases
Menu of databases provided via EBSCO publishing. Full-text is available for a number of journals. From this menu it is possible to search across multiple databases.

Electronic Journal Center (OhioLINK)
Full-text coverage of selected journals in all scholarly areas, including nursing, patient care, and clinical medicine. This site is searchable. Also, it is possible to set a profile to receive automatic alerts of new articles that match your interests.

ISI Web of Science (1980 - Current)

JSTOR is an electronic archive of complete journal backruns, current to within 2 to 5 years. The collections include: Arts & Sciences I-VIII, Business Collection I-III, Ecology & Botany, General Science, and Language and Literature. For Kent State University, students and faculty now have access to 381 JSTOR journals representing over 2 million articles.

LexisNexis Academic
Contains the full-text of newspapers for the past 20 years, federal and state case law and legislative materials, law reviews, company news and financial information, medical and health information, general information sources and much more. Updates and coverage vary by section.

Provides access to individual papers presented at conferences worldwide, covering every congress, symposium, exposition, workshop and meeting added to the The British Library Document Supply Centre's collection. Updated monthly.

ProQuest Congressional (formerly LexisNexis Congressional)
Brings together a vast amount of information published by and about Congress including bills, laws, regulations, hearings, and committee reports to name only a few. Many of the documents are available full text. Many of the documents are available full text and are indexed back to 1789. Includes the full text of the Congressional Serial Set from 1789 to the present. Updates and coverage vary by section.
