Gerontology
Tips for finding literature (journal articles, books, etc.) on your Gerontology topic.
Gerontology is a multidisciplinary (many subjects) area of study. When thinking about your research, don't forget to include elements of aging, or older persons in the following areas (check databases for articles in these areas as well!):
Education
Family and Consumer Studies
Health
Psychology
Sociology
When searching for literature, combine the terms
aged
aging
gerontology
older people
older persons
with your area of interest. This will narrow down your search and make sure you find different perspectives on your topic.
Use the AgeLine database to find age-specific databaes. A guide to searching AgeLine can be found here. This database has a thesaurus searching feature for subject searches. You can use the handbook for finding thesaurus terms in the Main Library Reference Collection.
