Digital Lunar Orbiter Photographic Atlas of the Moon
The Lunar and Planetary Institute offers detailed satellite images of the lunar surface on this site. It is searchable by specific moon features, photo number, and coordinate range.

Earth from Space
This site offers selections from the NASA Space Shuttle Earth Observations Photography database. The excellent images are searchable in many fields including cities, geographical regions, and an interactive map.

Earthshots: Satellite Images of Environmental Change
Choose selected areas of the globe to view images taken from space at different points in time. This unique site from the USGS then provides a detailed discussion of the environmental changes taking place in the selected region over the years.

Forest Fire Hotspots
This site uses the FireM3 system to identify fire hotspots as well as monitor daily forest fire activity in Canada.

GIS in Summit County
Use the "Internet Map Server" to retrieve tax maps and aerial photographs covering all of Summit county. Fiscal, Engineering, and Executive demographic information is available for all maps.

J-Track
Track the current location of individual satellites on both two dimentional and three dimentional map screens. The site provides a search feature which allows for the selection of individual satellites and can deliver e-mail notification about significant satellite viewing oppurtunities in your area.

LANDSAT 7 Satellite Image Server
Ohio based satellite data available for download or web viewing. Several views available including infrared and true color composite. New imagery is available every 16 days.

MODIS Active Fire Mapping Program: USDA Forest Service
At this site, the most current information is available on ongoing fires throughout the United States. Readers can find information on the affected geographic area, the fire's cause, the percentage of the fire's containment, and an estimated date of containment as well as the fuels involved. Also available is a wealth of regional data from MODIS, including JPEG imagery, PDFs, and archival fire extent maps. GIS information about the current status of fires is also accessible here.

NASA Johnson Space Center Digital Image Collection
The digital image collection the NASA Johnson Space Center is available online and includes a collection of Shuttle Earth Observation images.

OhioView
OhioView is a grassroots organization formed in 1996 to make satellite data more accessible and to fill the knowledge gap in education about the uses of data. Kent State University is one of eleven universities, library networks, and government agencies that make up OhioView.

Snow Research
This site features research conducted by the SNOW Interest Group, a division of the US Army's USACE Engineer Research and Development Center. Much information on snow science is available, including biographies of snow experts, their publications, descriptions of tools and research facilities, and photos, graphs, and illustrations. The links page includes valuable scholarly Web sites for snow research. Other highlights include current U.S. snow cover maps (updated daily) as well as the SNOW Research Cool Link (updated twice a month).

TerraLook: Satellite Imaging
This site, provided by the USGS in association with NASA, allows users to view changes to the Earth's surface over the past 30 years. The TerraLook viewer and toolkit is available free of charge, though it must be viewed in a program which supports JPEG images.

USDA Remote Sensing Application Center
The Remote Sensing Application Center offers advanced geospatial technology along with technical and operational support. This site includes a link to a geodata clearinghouse.

USGS Landsat Images
This is the site of the USGS Landsat Project and its satellite images. These images can be of use in agriculture, geography, forestry, regional planning, education, mapping, and global change research. The Landsat project involves a series of satellites used to monitor the earth's land surface.

USGS Landslide Hazard Program
This is the site for the Landslide Hazard Program of the United States Geological Survey. Links to relevant documents, images, and limited news reports. This site provides valuable information about the problem of landslides as well as information about the Landslide Hazard Program. This site gives access to sites being monitored for landslides, USGS advisories, and current research.
