Historical Note: Emanuel Haldeman-Julius (1888-1951) gained recognition for publishing the "Little Blue Books" series, which made a wide variety of books (including works of literature, information manuals, collections, etc.) available for a price far lower than usual. The publishing company later began publishing larger books as well, some called "Big Blue Books" but some belonging to different series like Joseph McCabe's "Key to Culture" series or the "Digests" in which literary works were condensed and discussed. The company still maintained its Socialist political views, and placed great importance on the exosure of knowledge and information to as broad an audience as possible.

Scope and Content: This collection consists of mid-sized publications by the Haldeman-Julius Company. Included are a periodical (the Haldeman-Julius Monthly), several series (the Key to Culture publications, the ABC Living Library, etc.), and some miscellaneous books and pamphlets. All books were published by the Haldeman-Julius Company in Girard, Kansas. Copyright dates are not available for all but are included when possible.
