Historical Note: Seymour Baron was a professor of psychology in the spring of 1970. He was present when the shootings occurred on May 4, 1970 and is one of the faculty members, along with Glenn Frank and others, who did their best to calm students and keep the situation from escalating further.

Scope and Content: The letters that comprise this collection are some of the letters Baron received after the University closed. They are representative of the kinds of exchanges that took place between Kent State University faculty and students as they attempted to complete course work after classes were abruptly ended and campus was closed.

Restrictions on Access: Some information included in this collection is restricted due to the presence of information protected by privacy laws. This information has been redacted where present on documents in the collection. Un-redacted originals, in all cases, have been retained by Special Collections and Archives.

Sponsor: Digitization of this collection was funded by the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
