As part of a protest, a young man lies on a bed on the sidewalk in downtown Kent with signs, 'How About a Bed for a Vet' around him. "The curtailment of nearly all civilian housing construction during the war left the campus and the city unable to house the flood of vets." A similar photograph appears on page 78 of A Book of Memories. |
