Overnight Access Policy to the Kent State University Library
Kent State University Libraries is a 24/5 library during the Fall and Spring semesters of the academic school year. During these semesters, the library building will be open from noon on Sunday until 10:00pm Friday. It is the goal of University Libraries to provide the Kent State University Community a safe and comfortable location to study, research or meet friends and colleagues. To accomplish ths during the overnight hours certain security procedures are put in place.
From 11:0pm until 7:00am, security personnel will check and validate Kent State University FLASHcard IDs for current and valid Kent State University students, faculty and staff. Security will also check and validate current and valid OhioLINK students, faculty and staff with photo IDs issued from their OhioLINK institution. Under no circumstance will anyone be admitted into the buidling without his or her current and valid photo ID from their OhioLINK institution.
Anyone in the building from 11:00pm-7:00am may be asked to show their current and valid Kent State University FLASHcard ID as proof of their Kent State status. Persons who cannot produce a current and valid Kent State University FLASHcard ID will be required to show a current and valid photo ID (Driver's License, State ID or passport) to be used to verify their Kent State status.. If the patron cannot be verified as a current Kent State patron or cannot produce the accepted photo ID, they will be asked to leave the library immediately.
Patrons from OhioLINK institutions in the building from 11:00pm-7:00am may be asked to show their current and valid OhioLINK institution issued photo ID that will need to be verified through the Visiting Patron mode on the automated library system. If the patron's status cannot be verified or they cannot produce their current and valid OhioLINK institution ID, they will be asked to leave the library immediately.
The Kent State University Police will be called if the person(s) will not leave the library at the request of University Library Security, Security Guards or Library staff and may be considered to be trespassing.
